History

In the early seventies 3 friends about 14 years old from 3 different schools in Istanbul got together and started Sound Prophets.

The early years were not easy due to he difficulty and high cost to purchase musical instruments, the drummer had a drum set, the guitar player built his own guitar, an old church harmonium was used in the place of the organ, and the only amplifier of 50 watts was built by a friend.

Group studio was able to play rock with this setup for a few years, until the organ player was able to purchase a Farfisa organ, that was a very known brand that time, in time group studio expanded their musical instruments until they were able to have access to, Ludwig drums, mellotron moog and other quoted instruments of the period.

By mid seventies their first record "good morning" came out on the market and was a sensation on the Turkish music media, by staying for 6 weeks on the top of the songs.

Concerts were given in schools and theaters in various parts of the city.

Early 1980 ies Sound Prophets has won the first place in the Turkish Eurovision contest and gained access to participate to the Eurovision in Europe.

After this success Sound Prophets has stopped playing until 2008 when the guitar and keyboard player reunited again to pursue their endeavor in their quest to make their music known to the world.
